On October 31st, Yang Wei, the Secretary of the CPC Committee of Guizhou University (GZU), recently chaired a meeting at the Marxism College to discuss the high-quality development of higher education, as outlined in a recent provincial conference. This meeting, attended by department-level cadres from the Music College, Art College, and Marxism College, was focused on conveying the key messages from the provincial conference and discussing the growth and development of these affiliated colleges.

In her address, Yang Wei presented the core messages from Xu Lin, Secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, and Li Bingjun, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Guizhou Provincial Committee and Governor of the province. Yang highlighted the importance of this conference in the context of Guizhou's modernization efforts, noting its alignment with General Secretary Xi Jinping's vision for an educational powerhouse. The conference's directives provide a clear path and momentum for elevating the university's quality of education.

Yang stressed the importance of fully implementing the Party's educational policy, focusing on moral education, and striving to enhance Guizhou University's stature by adhering to the ethos of a first-class university with Chinese characteristics, at world-level, and meeting Guizhou needs. She emphasized the university's role in supporting Guizhou's development through advanced education, scientific research, and intellectual contributions.

During the meeting, college leaders reported on their achievements in discipline development, faculty recruitment and training, and student cultivation. In response, Yang Wei set forth three directives: firstly, to deepen the understanding and implementation of Xi Jinping's cultural thought and to undertake new cultural missions for the colleges' development; secondly, to align with Guizhou's new development strategies, contributing to cultural growth and the establishment of a culturally powerful nation while valuing Guizhou's ethnic traditions; and thirdly, to foster greater communication and collaboration within and beyond the university, aiming for breakthroughs in discipline construction and cooperative education.

Before the meeting,  Yang Wei conducted a thorough inspection at the Marxism College, assessing the college's progress in discipline construction, faculty development, and student education.
